Transforming a Desk Setup with 3D Realism
Introduction
Imagine transforming a desk setup with 3D Realism and turn it into reality! My friend approached me for a desk setup makeover, and I was all in. Join me as I transform his workspace using stunning 3D realism and render techniques!
Floorplan
The layout consists of two Micke desks side by side, a comfy sofa, and Kallax shelves for books and the TV. With limited space and a cozy living room vibe, we’re focused on optimizing the home office area without losing the comfort.
Finding Inspiration
Before diving into the project, I gathered inspiration from Pinterest as you can see here. Searching for “Mid-Century Modern Desk Setup” helped me find visuals that aligned with my friend’s style. I pinned my favorites to a dedicated board for easy access later.
3D Modeling Process
Next, I modeled the room using a 3D application. Starting with a photo of the space, I marked the perspective and took accurate measurements of the Kallax shelves. I’m meticulous about details—they enhance the final render’s realism. I even included the outdoor terrace to maximize natural light as you can check here.
Rendering with D5 Render
Bringing the model into D5 Render, I was impressed by its speed and accuracy. Setting the lighting and placing key furniture pieces helped me visualize the room. I made sure to include elements like power outlets and switches for added realism.
As you can see here, to soften the tile floor, I chose a cozy rug, while sourcing wallpaper textures from Poliigon to match the existing decor. Additional elements like books, lamps, and plants were added for that lived-in feel.
Final Touches
After several iterations, I found the perfect mid-century modern desk on 3Dsky. I even designed a desk shelf to elevate the monitor and keep things organized. With thousands of high-quality 3D models at my disposal in D5 Render, I placed lighting and plants to create an inviting atmosphere.
Bringing the Vision to Life
As you can see here I reached out to Fezibo, the desk brand I’m currently using, and they provided the ideal standing desk and shelf for the project. With everything ready, it was time to assemble the setup at my friend’s place.
Assembly Day
Arriving at my friend’s home, you can see here, how much this makeover was needed. We kicked things off with a clean-up and laid down the rug. The desk and shelf were quick to assemble, showcasing a beautiful walnut finish that complemented the space.
After setting up the monitor and peripherals: a desk mat and mechanical keyboard, which like mine is from Keychron, and a wireless mouse, I added some greenery for a fresh touch. The standing desk feature, with memory buttons for preferred heights, adds incredible functionality.
To maximize the space, I integrated a desk into a corner for additional storage without cluttering the main area.
